YOGA
What is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient discipline from India and directly translated means "union". It promotes mind and body, strengthens health and increases the feeling of happiness. In yoga we connect the soul and the spirit with the body. In every yoga practice we connect more deeply with ourselves, with our consciousness, our thoughts, our feelings and the soul. This is done, among other things, through controlled and conscious breathing during the exercises and meditation. We then forget the noisy and fast-moving world around us, focus exclusively on our inner being and thereby calm body and mind.
Which yoga direction do I teach?
I practice Vinyasa Yoga in my classes. This is one of the most popular yoga styles today. It is known as the so-called Vinyasa Flow - the flowing yoga sequence and is thus a combination of flowing movements (asanas, breathing and dynamics).
Vinyasa Yoga, also known as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, is an Indian Hatha Yoga system in the tradition of T.Krishnamacharya, which mainly includes Asana (postures) and Pranayama (breath control) for western students. It has developed from the original yoga form for the unity of body and mind - Hatha Yoga - and uses its asanas.
Vinyasa yoga is a dynamic, flowing style of yoga in which movements are carried out synchronously with the breath.
In order to control the breath perfectly, one uses Ujjayi-Pranayama (Warrior Breath = "victorious breath") as a breathing technique, the so-called "rushing breath": Here one breathes through the nose and the breath is "braked" in the throat, so a sound similar to the rush of the sea arises. The length and intensity of the breaths should always remain the same, no matter how strenuous it becomes.
Main focus in the Vinyasa yoga practice
The exercises are arranged sensibly and are carried out accordingly. The different focuses of Vinyasa Yoga Flow are practiced in one exercise sequence, in detail these are:
- flexibility
- force
- balance
- relaxation
- concentration
The Vinyasa sequence is suitable for everyone, beginners as well as advanced, as there are easy and difficult variants for each exercise.
What can you expect in a vinyasa class?
A Vinyasa yoga class is usually similar in structure.
Welcome at the beginning of the lesson - time for yourself - come down - arrive at you - set a goal (Sankalpa - resolution) at the beginning of the lesson - warm up - Sun A & Sun B (sun salutation) - core - arm balance - standing sequence - hip opener - Surrender - grounding.
The focus is on the entire body, breath and mind. The aim is to calm and purify both. All important points in the body are activated and at the end we end with a common meditation.
What is the goal of yoga?
Yoga creates more mindfulness and promotes mental and spiritual development. We get to know ourselves better and to better interpret and understand the signals of our body and soul.
The regular practice of yoga can help us to overcome the hurdles of everyday life with more serenity and to go through life more healthily.
Yoga opens your heart and promotes love for yourself, as well as your love for fellow human beings and mother earth. When we realize that we are all in the same boat, that we are all part of a universal consciousness, we live and love more fearlessly and intensely and establish the vital connection to everything that surrounds us.
